Product Review: Body Reform Treatment Serum

In our world, trendy skincare quickly becomes taboo. Skin experts lurk in every corner of social media, ready to offer criticism on all the popular skincare products. Despite this, certain products (and ingredients) rise above all criticism. One of these ingredients is called retinol. It is the skincare ingredient of our era, showing up in our face serums, lotions, and body washes. Dermatologists claim that retinol can exfoliate AND improve skin firmness. I started using retinol face serum a few years ago. The first night I used the serum, I noticed a significant difference in my face. My skin became smoother and had increased luminosity overnight. It has become one of the few skincare products I cannot live without. What can I say? I'm loyal to a quality product.

 I love what retinol has done for my face. Now, I want the same glow on the rest of my body! I searched for a quality retinol serum from a reputable skincare company for years. Then, I discovered the Body Reform Treatment Serum by Shani Darden.  This body serum contains both retinol AND vitamin C. The product aims to “retexturize, brighten, and firm” skin. Read on to learn what I liked (and disliked!) about this powerful serum. 

The Glow Is Real, Baby!

I applied this serum at night per the instructions. The next morning, my skin was ethereally soft. After a few days, I noticed an unparalleled glow. My skin was luminous! I have used various body scrubs and physical exfoliating tools. However, none of these things made my skin as soft and vibrant as this serum. I cannot emphasize this enough. My. Skin. Was. Stunning. The difference was even noticeable to others. My Mother remarked that my skin looked “very youthful”. The glow was different from anything I had ever seen! 

Body Reform Versus Acne

I struggle with acne and hyperpigmentation. One of the main reasons I bought this product was to address these concerns. Unfortunately, this serum disappointed me on this front. After using this product for four months, I saw no significant decrease in my hyperpigmentation. My bodily acne was still quite present, though milder. However, this is a tortoise-like serum. Does it work? Yes. However, it’s going to take a significant amount of time. I would have seen a bigger difference if I had continued using the product for a year.  However, this serum is not cheap. Due to the price, I felt unsatisfied with the results I received after 3 months of use.

Cumbersome Packaging

At first, I liked the 4-ounce glass bottle for the Body Retinol Reform. The bottle is sleek and modern. However, I quickly realized it was very troublesome. The bottle features a pump, and the dip tube is far too short. I could not get the last 15% of the serum from the bottle. The bottle actuator would only release air. I had to flip the bottle upside down and throttle it to get the remainder of the product. This was slightly frustrating.

Conclusion: 

Overall, Body Reform is awesome! It's an excellent product for softening and illuminating your skin. However, Body Reform is not the best fit if you are battling stubborn body acne or hyperpigmentation. If you’ve tried Retinol Reform, let me know what you thought!
